This is a one day tour which combines a tour of the Golden Circle’s main sights and a snowmobile ride on Langjökull glacier. Our first stop is the world’s oldest parliament, established in 930 and located in the national park of Þingvellir.  We will stroll through the Almannagjá gorge, which marks the eastern boundary on the North American Plate, and see the waterfall Öxarárfoss. As we continue on our journey, we pass Lake Laugarvatn as we make our way to Haukadalur valley. This valley is the most known geothermal area in Iceland and is the home of many geysers, like Geysir and Strokkur, to name a few. Here we are sure to see some spouting geysers, since the very active Stokkur goes off every 6-10 minutes and reaches the incredible height of 20 meters.

Only a short distance from Geysir, lies the majestic  Gullfoss waterfall which is the most famous waterfall in Iceland. From there we head on out to the Langjökull, the second largest glacier in Iceland, for the snowmobile part of the tour. Once we arrive on site, you will be provided with an insulated winter overall and  safety helmet. Before we hit the throttle a certified snowmobile guide will teach you all the basic and show you have to safely before we head out for an hour snowmobile adventure. The snowmobiles shoot off in a single file as we take off on this action packed hour long ride along the glacier. The glacier is roughly parallel to the direction of the country’s active volcanic zone: north-east to south-west. Under Langjökull there are two or more volcanic systems. The area of the glacier includes some mountains, e.g. Mt. Skriðufell and Jarlhettur (“The earl’s hat”), providing great photo opportunities.

Bring/wear: Warm clothing, waterproof outer layer, sturdy shoes, warm hat and gloves. Don’t forget your camera and some snacks. The driver will be stop at service stations if you wish to purchase something there.
